Have you ever been left with one wheel spinning in icy or slippery road conditions? This is caused by the conventional "Open Differential' which is standard on most vehicles.
An open differential allows the wheels to turn at different speeds (which allows the vehicle to navigate around corners). The problem with this design is it can only apply the same amount of torque to both wheels, so when one wheel slips, it will only apply the amount of torque it requires to spin that wheel, which is very little. Your vehicle will then be stuck where it sits, spinning the tires without traction.
This Quaife Automatic Torque Biasing (ATB) Limited Slip Differential automatically biases torque away from the spinning wheel, to a constantly varying degree, without locking. It does so smoothly, with no sudden jerk or noise, and provides very predictable power and traction. This differential also has high performance applications for drivers who want to get the most out of their high performance Mercedes-Benz vehicles.
This unit will bolt directly in place of the factory open differential, with no modifications needed. Quaife's high-quality units are known for their durability on race tracks, and on the street.
