With an ordinary open differential most of the power is lost during wheel spin under heavy acceleration. The Quaife differential solves this problem as well as torque steer and understeer. Quaife has a unique design called ATB (Automatic Torque Biasing) which progressively locks the differential as slipping occurs. When compared to other differentials that lock immediately the progressive transition is seamless and undetectable. Quaife's ATB differentials are completely gear driven so there are no clutches to wear out over time and produce costly repairs.
