The EFR8474 is a brand new release for 2019 and represents the state-of-the-art from BorgWarner Turbo Systems. This unique turbo was designed specifically by BW engineering to combine the high flowing 68mm compressor inducer with a low inertia (fast spooling) 84mm exducer to allow the same footprint to breathe a LOT better up top without compromising down low and midrange. Efficiency plateaus are widened as a result. RPM Capabilities have also been re-evaluated in which higher pressure ratios can be better utilized. That’s a 21.8% improvement in flow for a little bit of offset spool RPM, all on the same sized turbo! Using the same 74mm Gamma-Ti turbine wheel from the EFR8374, this turbo flows an impressive 95lbs/min of air at the same 127k RPM maximum shaft speed. EFR8474 is intended for applications which will push a turbo to the limit with high boost. This hybrid turbo uses the lightweight alloy bearing housing derived from Indycar with an aggressive 68mm inducer compressor wheel.
Compressor Housing Connections:
EFR 8474 (68mm) vs EFR 8374 (63mm)
Using Borg Warner’s 84mm FMW compressor (68mm inducer) the 8474 houses our traditional 7 blade EFR extended-tip compressor wheel design capable of 95 lb/min airflow rate. Ceramic Ball Bearing only, watercooling optional (recommended). We strongly recommend using an EFR Speed Sensor if you plan to run to the limit.
The EFR 8474 is available in (4) different turbine housing configurations:
1.05 A/R T4 Twin Scroll External-WG
0.83 A/R T3 Undivided (Internal WG)
